Marketing of alcoholic beverages in Colombia : new term to obtain the certificate of good manufacturing practices (GMP)
Decree 262 of 2017 had granted a term of twenty-four months to the industrials who manufacture, process, hydrate, package, store, distribute, transport, sell, export or import alcoholic beverages in the Colombian territory to present the certificate of good practices of manufactures issued by the local health authority (Invima). In the case of alcoholic beverages imported to Colombia, the certificate of good practices must correspond to the certificate of the same nature issued by the health authorities of the country of production of the alcoholic beverage or that issued by a third party that has been previously endorsed by the Invima.
In January 2019 the Invima reported that out of 270 registered establishments, only 44 have presented the certificate of good manufacturing practices, for this reason, by decree No. 216 of 2019, which modifies Decree No. 262 of 2017 The Colombian Ministry of Health and Social Security granted a new deadline for obtaining the GMP certificate until February 14, 2021.
